Biography
Gaye Nelson has been an expert in astrology and tarot for many years. She began studying at age 17 and has been a full-time professional since 1988. She has thousands of clients, including many celebrities and powerful people in all walks of life.
As the daughter of Hollywood parents, Gaye's life has been fascinating. Her mother, Anne Nelson, had a legendary executive career in business affairs at CBS Television from 1945 until her death in 2009.
Her father, Harmon Oscar Nelson, Jr., was a brilliant musician, bandleader and advertising executive. He died September 28, 1975, but continues to be an inspiration to her. Gaye's younger brother and sister, Harmon O. Nelson III and Amy Nelson Frelinger, are Scorpio twins. Her mom and dad were both Cancers.
Her dad's first wife was his prep school sweetheart, Bette Davis. They married in 1932 and Hollywood legend has it that she gave the Academy Award its famous nickname "Oscar", because she thought the "golden statuette" resembled him, particularly the derriere.
With these parents, a career in show business was natural. Gaye began to work when she was three as the Campbell's Soup girl, followed by more than 30 years of consistent appearances on stage, film, television and radio, as both actress and singer.
She was a soloist with Sing Out Los Angeles, the local Up with People cast. She is a long-time member of AFTRA and the Screen Actors Guild.
She was a townsperson on the ABC series "Eastwick" and is in the movie "Moneyball", starring Brad Pitt. You can see her in the trailer. She loves working with her daughter, Skye, who was the assistant to the Producer on both projects. She currently works on the CBS show "Criminal Minds".
As a double Gemini, she has many interests and talents. She was a Casting Director for actor Robert Conrad's production company and loved being on the other side of the camera, while she was apprenticing to become an astrologer.
At 19, she was a cover girl for Seventeen magazine's "California Girls" issue and was featured in a four page article about how she successfully combined her show business career with her spirituality as a member of Self Realization Fellowship, where she taught Sunday school for years.
She was a Girl Scout throughout her childhood and was a Girl Scout leader for teens in her late twenties.
She is a Past President of the AFI Associates, the fundraising group for the American Film Institute. She was co-chair for the premieres of "Invictus", "The New World" and "The Pursuit of Happyness" and twice co-chaired the International Film Series.
She belongs to the Southern California Astrological Network (SCAN), the San Francisco Astrological Society (SFAS) and NCGR (National Council for Geocosmic Research).
Gaye served for five years as the Community Health Educator for Planned Parenthood and was a Bradley Method Childbirth Educator for decades (starting four years before she gave birth to her daughter at home in 1985). She was one of the creators of "A Sound Beginning", a unique prenatal parenting program. She is still available to serve as a doula (birth companion).
Gaye is a lover of words. She reads daily and never goes anywhere without a crossword puzzle. After seeing the documentary "Wordplay", she was inspired to compete in The American Crossword Puzzle Tournament. She was a winning contestant on the TV game show, "Merv Griffin's Crosswords".
Her main hobby is knitting, which she has done almost every day since her mother taught her the craft at the age of 10.
Gaye hosted a radio program called "Corners of the Heart" on KFOX, starting in 1990. The following year she moved her show to local cable television in Los Angeles. She was on every week, speaking about various inspirational topics, until the end of 2008, when Public Access ended.
Gaye and her husband, Rick Gallavan, have been together since 1992 and have two adult children-his son, Brendan Gallavan, and her daughter, Skye Stolnitz. They share their lives with three dogs, chihuahuas Osgood, McGuffin and Stella (pictured above).
